Learn how to run your own NIH Big Read book discussion about The Gene: An Intimate History

The NIH Library and the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) are pleased to present, “The NIH Big Read.” This new program will feature a series of book discussions about a single book, held at NIH in March and April, and will culminate in a special final event featuring the author of the book on April 17. The 2017 inaugural NIH Big Read book will be, “The Gene: An Intimate History” (2016) by Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, the Pulitzer Prize-winning, best-selling author of “The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer” (2010).

The program provides opportunities to discuss the book with your colleagues and NIH Librarians at one of our Book Discussion events.

This session is being provided by the NIH Library to provide NIH employees with ideas and background on how to set up and run their own Book Discussions.

The NIH Big Read will conclude with an event featuring the author, Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, on April 17, in Masur Auditorium (Building 10), 2:00–3:00 p.m. A Meet and Greet with Dr. Mukherjee on the FAES Terrace will follow the presentation.
